Salzburg is one of Europe’s most beautiful cities. Like Vienna, it is beautiful, rich in history, and still fairly reasonably priced.
Start your day with a walking tour. I would highly recommend Rick Steve’s audio guide for that.
I would recommend starting with the MozartSteg bridge and walking towards the Old Town.

Then I visited the Catacombs; there is a 2 Euro entry fee.
The streets are beautiful.

From there, I hiked to the Fortress.

For 13.6 Euro, one gets a full ticket to visit the fortress, its museums, as well as the funicular ride down. Both the fortress tour and the funicular ride are worth it.

The views are great.

And in the evening, visit Mozart’s home. Unfortunately, I was late, and it was already closed for the day.

Based on my experience with saunas in Stockholm (Sweden) and Helsinki (Finland), I decided to try the sauna Paracelsus Bad in Salzburg. For 18 Euro, it reminded me of the great sauna experiences I had in Scandinavia. Do attend their hourly ritual where everyone gathers in the main sauna room and the sauna master whisks around with a towel to create waves of hot air with varying intensity and oils/fragrances.
The views of the city from the sauna area are great too.
For vegetarian food, I would recommend My Indigo. It has amazing vegetarian & vegan food.
Note
- If you are coming from Liechtenstein, you can take a 40 Euro, 3.5-hour (fast) or 26 Euro, 5-hour (slow) train from Feldkirch to Salzburg.
- As per the rules of
German pronunciation,
the “z” in Salzburg is pronounced as “ts”, so it is pronounced as
Saltsburg/साल्त्सबऽग
