There are at least three different ways “ch” gets pronounced in English words and that tells you the origin of those words.
- Latin-origin words used
chfortʃ/चsound. For example, “champion” or “channel”. - French-origin words used
chforʃ/शsound. For example, “machine” or “champagne”. - German-origin words used
chforx/ख़sound. For example, Erlich “Bachman” from the Silicon Valley show. - Greek-origin words use
chfork/कsound. For example, “Christopher” or “character”.
