The Tijuana border (between the US and Mexico) is one of the busiest land crossings in the world.

The first shop one sees on the American side is McDonald’s. What else can better characterize “sueño Americano” than unlimited soda refills (still for 1$!) and unlimited toilet paper. Both of which, Mcdonald’s on the Mexican side doesn’t offer!

The first shop one sees on the Mexican side is a “24-hour Pharmacy” glowing in bright neon light. It doesn’t even say the Spanish equivalent, “Farmacia 24 horas todos Los diás” anywhere. What else can characterize a dream come true for an American than to be able to buy life-saving medicines without having a prescription and for the price of Hershey’s chocolates?
